Hokay, so, as a rule, I generally dislike holidays that encourage outrageous spending on stuff that no one really NEEDS, but on the flip side, I love to celebrate stuff, so I decided to get all dressed up (even though I'm teaching dance classes today). What can I say? I just like to be fancy!
Valentine's Day has morphed into a silly holiday, in my mind, but it plays an important role in the story that Soldier Boy and I are writing. This time last year, he was home on leave pre-deployment. I had to work my full-time job and only had the evening to spend with him. When I was finished working, he called to tell me that his deployment had been CANCELED! I was SO incredibly happy! We decided to forgo a fancy dinner and stuff our faces with deep dish pizza and drink champagne from Mason jars. It was lovely.
… and then he ended up deploying a month later anyway…
… such is the military!
Anywho, we get to spend our second Valentine's Day together this year, without the threat of deployment and how are we spending it? I have no clue… probably being overdressed while eating frozen pizza, drinking whiskey, and watching Dexter. Could there be a better way to celebrate? Not really.
